Hi there,

I've tried to add an IAX trunk to Magrathea (a UK VOIP Provider), but it is showing as unregistered in the GUI, and unmonitored on the asterisk CLI, so I have a couple of questions...

1) Is there any way I can get asterisk to monitor the trunk so that the command line reports it as either online or offline?

2) Is there a log file somewhere that shows me the output of the attempt to connect to the trunk provider?

3) How can I know for sure whether it has connected successfully or not?

Thanks,

Paul

Incidentally it looks like the trunk is working correctly, as I was just able to make an outgoing call through it...

1) Open up users.conf and add the "qualify" setting to the proper trunk context. For more information on qualify see http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+iax+qualify . Note that this is used primarily to monitor the responsiveness.

2) Options > Advanced Options > Show Advanced Options. After doing this Asterisk Logs will be visible in the left-hand menu.

3) Whether or not a trunk registers should be visible on the System Status page - if this isn't the case you might need to ask your provider if they can provide any assistance.
