Hello
Is it possible to install a (pre-compiled) binary version of the ILBC codec directly into the modules directory...I understand this will work in an x86 machine, as long as the binary codec is the right type for the processor?

Do you have access to a free fixed point ILBC codec for the BF532 DSP? If so we will be happy to include it in the firmware.
Those that I have found are all floating point, so they are not directly compatible with the BF532.

No, I don't. Found one or two posts where there is a claim to have created such, but nothing that seems to be worth investigating as far as the blackfin goes. How much work might be involved?

I read an article about the codec a few days ago, and the article stated that the conversion took several man months. You can find
the article here: http://www.packetizer.com/codecs/ilbc/iLBC.WP.pdf
The ILBC codec is propreitary, but the license for i386 based use is free. Unfortunately that is not the case when you want to use it
on embedded non-i386 platforms like the Blackfin DSP. I am still trying to find a way to include it in our firmware, but because of cost
and licensing issues we might be limited to including it in the SE firmware.

well if several man months worth of work is involved I would only expect it in the Super Deluxe firmware!

I certainly don't hope so. I am currently communicating with GIPS regarding the possibility of including the codec in our firmware,
so let's hope we can make a deal with them that can be beneficiary to all of us  Wink

I am afraid that the iLBC codec will not be included in our firmware for quite some time. GIPS are talking $$ $$$ that for us is so far from
reality that we can't even consider it, and they are not willing to discuss alternative licensing schemes. At least that is the way I
understand it, I never got any reply after the last phone conference that I had with them.  Huh
